The Arc Mercer - New Jersey Organization Providing Community Support
Located in Ewing, New Jersey, The Arc Mercer works integrally with those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as a broad community of families, caregivers, and agency stakeholders. Its holistic approach to engagement and support includes vocational and day habilitation programs, as well as residential services. A foundational commitment of The Arc Mercer is providing employment support in tandem with agencies and employers countywide.
The Arc Mercer takes pride in its inclusive approach, which centers on a family support program that brings together diverse constituents in productive dialogue on ways of serving clients better. Its unique blend of education and advocacy helps forge lasting connections with those best positioned to help people with special needs. This helps ease social barriers and provides pathways toward independence and success.
The Arc Mercer’s humanistic approach is rooted in its founding by 12 parents of children with disabilities, who gathered in a living room in 1950 to discuss ways of ensuring their offspring had supported, well-rounded lives. Today, the organization extends its services to more than a thousand local adults with the help of dozens of partnering agencies.
